The boys of summer took a trip to see the big leaguers play in DC last weekend. Derek and Tate joined our friends Rick and Ryan Bickford to watch the Rockies take on the Nationals in DC and had a great time cheering the Rockies to victory! After a week of training with Circuit City in Las Vegas, Rick and Derek were thrilled to get back on the road for the drive to DC for the night game. (Get out your tiny violins now . . . They got in at 10 and 10:30 pm respectively on Friday night the drove to DC for the game on Saturday night. They didn't get home until 1:00 am on Sunday morning from the game. It's a rough life, you know? Mary and I say "Wah!")

Tate enjoying some cotton candy
Rick and Derek told me that a few minutes after this picture was taken, Tate turned to Derek and said, " You can eat the rest. I think I ate too much hot dog and ice cream and now this cotton candy gave my tummy sickness. I told you you shouldn't have bought that cotton candy, daddy." At least I know I'm not the only one who gets parenting advice from my four year old. The next morning when I asked Tate what his favorite part was, he told me that I should never eat cotton candy, but the game was fun and a boy just in front of them caught a ball. Daddy didn't even catch it, he said. Now, Mary and I say, "I love that boy!"
